I am in awe with the beauty of your soaps! I see that you use a high percentage of coconut oil. Is it a bit drying especially in a cold country like yours? May I know your superfat level? I sometimes use higher coconut oil also but in my country it is hot and humid, so most people don't have dry skin. I have tried using stearic acid and it really accelerates trace for me. How do you manage to have stearic acid and still make those gorgeous swirls? - Silvia

Hi Silvia,
It makes me happy, that you like my soaps!

Your questions:
High percentage of coconut is no Problem at all, Even Here in the European weather conditions.
Especially when it is combined with Lots of oleic Acid.I Superfat rather Low(5%), my Skin is rather sensitiv, but the Main Thing is a Good cure, 3month plus......

About the Stearic Acid.. For me it dosnt realy accelerate, but without sc my Batter Stays indeed Even longer liquide, i usually have about 30 to 40 Minutes for Molding and Swirling. Very much Depends on the roomtemperatur humidity (maybe) airpressure , my kitchen has usually about 24 degrees Celsius, My lye and fats are at the Same Temperatur, that Works for me, Even with 4% Stearic Acid, as Long as the scent behaves well, and i dont stockblend too much.... (I Even Take rather Little water, for the lye 25-28%)

I Hope , i didnt folget anything you asked and discribed understandable....

Thank you so much for answering my questions, Dandelion! I will try working with stearic acid again.
I noticed that you use 5% salt and 10% sugar in some of your recipes. I have tried salt but much less than 5%. Do you feel the salt and sugar make a big difference in the soap? I am afraid ants will eat a sweet soap. Haha!
I am so happy to have discovered your blog. Your soaps are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen! Thank you for sharing them!

You are welcome, Silvia!
I Love soaps with Salt in the lyewater, I have started with 2% Salt and 5% Sugar,
and have Used up to 10% each and I am waiting for Those last ones to cure....
Sugar is Great to have an elastic batter, to work with for a Long Time(30-40 Minutes) and Salt makes the Bar very Easy and soon to Umold (After 2-5hours) both is Perfect for me! I cannot imagine the Ants to eat These Salty soaps, but who can be sure, .... i Would Suggest to just Take a try on that Salt and Sugar combination (2/5% or 5/10%) and See if it Works for you.

Thank you, I learn something new today! I thought sugar was just to make the soap lather more. I will definitely try the higher salt and sugar in my recipe.
Have a great week ahead, Dandelion! :-)
